The holidays are here, and that usually means big gatherings and possibly (or definitely) some alcoholic beverages. This year gatherings will be smaller so the perfect bottle of wine to pair with your holiday dinner is a must. If you are like us — a beef tenderloin or a grass-fed rack of lamb will be at the center of your dining room table. Luckily, we’ve got some wine pairing ideas for you, whether you like a Cabernet or a Syrah.
The most important thing to remember when pairing wine with meat is to match the body of the wine with the color and amount of fat of the meat. When you are eating a tasty rack of lamb or a tender steak, you’ll want to pair them will a medium or full bodied red wine. This is a good rule of thumb to follow as we offer you some pairings.
Let’s start with tenderloin, and it just so happens… we’ve got tenderloin on special this month. So when you purchase any item on our online store, you can add the tenderloin for just $39.99! The best thing about the tenderloin is that it is center-cut, which means you get the best part of the muscle, making it extremely tender. Hence the name! Pairing it with a full-bodied Malbec is perfect because the tenderloin is leaner and the Malbec doesn’t have a super long finish.
Syrah pairs perfectly with our Pre rack of lamb. And since we get our lamb from farmers in Australia and New Zealand, well, drinking a wine from Australia just makes sense! It is the most popular grape planted in Australia, and they actually call it Shiraz instead. Drink the Syrah alongside the lamb and the fruity notes will shine on your palette.
The Pre® New York Strip steak is perfectly complemented by a bold, aged, full-bodied Tempranillo that will enhance its savory flavors. The cherry and tobacco notes play well with the fat content in our New York strip. You could also pair a Tempranillo with the rack of lamb if you wanted!

This red is a great pairing for the Pre Filet Mignon steak. Filet is lean and tender with minimal fat and the tannins in this blend perfectly match the steak. This pairing is best when used with minimal seasoning — think salt and pepper.
