Achieving this status is the culmination of much more than a fancy new claim. The butterfly is indeed fancy, but it is also a manifestation of our values, and an added assurance that Pre is beef you can feel good about choosing from health, safety, and social perspectives.
Non-GMO Project Verified is a newer label for us, but Pre beef has not changed one bit. It has been held to the same strict sourcing and selection criteria from the start. All Pre beef is 100% Grass-Fed & Finished, sourced from nutrient-rich pastures and raised with care, with no sub-therapeutic antibiotics and no added hormones. Now that it is Non-GMO Project Verified, there is even more reason to trust Pre beef.
What do GMOs have to do with meat?
Meat itself is not genetically modified, and GMOs are not directly added to it. For meat, poultry, dairy, and eggs, the non-GMO claim means the animals were not fed a diet containing genetically engineered crops.
Because Pre cattle are grass fed and finished, they never consume grain. Grain rations may include corn or soybeans, both of which have genetically modified varieties. Our grass fed and finished beef is raised on pastures in compliance with Non-GMO Project standards for avoidance of genetically engineered ingredients.
