Spicy Sloppy Joe

DIY Sloppy Joe sauce! It only takes a few ingredients and it’s more flavorful than canned – especially when smothering Pre Lean Ground Beef.

PREP: 10 min. ACTIVE: 25 min. PASSIVE: 10 min. DIFFICULTY Medium

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Pre ground beef
  • 1 sweet onion
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp. ghee (or butter)
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. spicy brown mustard
  • 1 tbsp. fish sauce
  • 3 tbsp. coconut aminos or soy sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp. Sriracha
  • 4 soft pretzel buns
  • 1 jalapeno
  1. In a skillet, heat ghee or butter on high heat. Mince onion, celery, and garlic.
  2. Add to skillet and stir for two minutes.
  3. Add beef and cook until thoroughly cooked and completely browned. Add in honey, brown mustard, fish sauce coconut aminos, ketchup and Sriracha.
  4. Stir well. Reduce to a simmer. Let sauce reduce until it has thickened and is darker in color.
  5. Heat a griddle or another large skillet. Slice buns and smear ghee or butter on inside of bun. Toast for 30 seconds until lightly toasted.
  6. Top toasted buns with sloppy joe mix and garnish with sliced jalapeños.
